起源於土耳其，樓梯布顧名思義就是像樓梯般有著一階一階扁平橫向羅紋的厚實織物。有細小羅紋的排列，也有寬窄不同尺寸的交替變化。 它是一種主要用於室內裝潢或外衣的特種紡織品，也相當適合作為洋裝與裙裝，展現女性的身材曲線。編織結構除了表面具有羅紋的外觀，更使其易於清潔和保養。
